MLS NEXT has officially confirmed the dates and locations for its major events during the 2026-27 season, setting the stage for what will be the biggest campaign in the history of North America’s leading youth soccer platform.
The seventh season of MLS NEXT will bring together more than 53,000 players, 2,743 teams and 310 clubs, including all 30 MLS academies, with more than 27,000 matches scheduled across the United States and Canada. Beyond the regular season, the calendar will feature a series of national events designed to combine elite competition, player identification, scouting exposure and postseason qualification.

The first major event will arrive in October with the MLS NEXT Talent ID, scheduled for October 9-12 across 13 MLS markets: Atlanta, Colorado, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minnesota, Nashville, New England, New York, Philadelphia, San Jose and Seattle. More than 1,300 invited prospects will have the opportunity to train in professional environments at MLS club facilities while being evaluated by MLS NEXT coaches, professional scouts and national team representatives.
The calendar then moves to Arizona for one of the biggest scouting events of the year. MLS NEXT Fest will take place from December 2-13 at Arizona Athletic Grounds and Red Mountain Park in Mesa. The event is expected to feature more than 1,600 teams from at least 300 clubs across the U13 through U19 age groups, with more than 32,000 players competing in approximately 2,400 matches in front of hundreds of professional, national team and college scouts.
For many players, MLS NEXT Fest will once again represent one of the most important opportunities of the season to perform in front of evaluators from different levels of the game. The event has increasingly become a meeting point between youth development, professional scouting and college recruitment, giving prospects an environment where a strong performance can have an impact beyond the tournament itself.

In March, attention will turn to Florida for the 2027 Generation adidas Cup, which will be held from March 25 through April 2 at IMG Academy in Bradenton. MLS academies will once again face international club academies, creating one of the strongest global showcases available to young players in North America. The tournament is also expanding its U16 field from 40 to 48 teams, with every group guaranteed to include an international club. The expanded format will also create dedicated opportunities for Elite Academies.
The Girls Division will also return for its third edition at Generation adidas Cup, continuing the tournament’s expansion beyond the traditional boys’ competition and giving elite young female players another international platform.

The postseason race will then move toward Atlanta. MLS NEXT Flex, the final qualifying competition for MLS NEXT Cup, is scheduled for April 29 through May 4 at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center. Teams will be placed into groups based on their regular-season performance, with the winners of each group earning automatic qualification to MLS NEXT Cup. A new element this season will also give the 14 regular-season Flex Conference winners an opportunity to compete for first-round byes at the final tournament.
The season will ultimately conclude in Cincinnati, where MLS NEXT Cup will take place from June 5-13, 2027. Matches will be played at Voice of America Park, Warren County Sports Park and TQL Stadium, bringing the top teams together for the final stage of the campaign across the U13, U14, U15, U16, U17 and U19 age groups.
The championship event will also be bigger than in previous years. In the MLS NEXT Allstate Homegrown Division, the U15 through U19 age groups will expand from 32 to 48 teams, giving more clubs and players the opportunity to compete for a national championship and perform on one of the biggest stages in the MLS NEXT calendar.

For the MLS NEXT Academy Division, the postseason pathway will also feature multiple qualifying routes, including regional MLS NEXT Cup Qualifier events. Ten regional tournaments will take place throughout the season, stretching from Utah and California to Florida, Ohio, Arizona, New Jersey and Kansas, creating additional opportunities for clubs outside the traditional MLS academy structure to reach the national stage.
The 2026-27 season, therefore, will be about more than simply adding another year to the MLS NEXT calendar. With new venues, expanded competitions and more opportunities for players to be evaluated by professional and national-team scouts, the upcoming campaign will create another extensive pathway for the next generation of players trying to turn youth soccer into a professional career.
