Canada is opening another door for one of its emerging talents. Kevin Khan, the 2008-born midfielder developing at Feyenoord, has received his first call-up to the senior national team, earning a place in Jesse Marsch’s 23-player squad for the November international window.

Khan is among the new faces selected for Canada’s Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal series against Guatemala. The two teams will meet away on November 13 before playing the return leg at BMO Field in Toronto on November 16, with a place in the 2027 semifinals at stake.

The opportunity represents a significant milestone for a player who has yet to make his first-team debut at Feyenoord. At just 18, Khan will now have the chance to train and compete alongside established Canadian internationals, including Jonathan Osorio, Nathan Saliba, Tajon Buchanan and Alphonso Davies.

Born in Toronto on May 30, 2008, Khan began playing soccer in Canada before moving to the Netherlands and joining Feyenoord’s academy in 2021. His development earned him his first professional contract with the Dutch club in August 2024, a three-year agreement that runs through the summer of 2027.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Khan is also capable of operating in more advanced central roles. He has been described as a dynamic and intelligent player, combining his work in midfield with forward runs and progressive passing. His ability to use both feet to distribute the ball adds another dimension to his game.

He has progressed through Feyenoord’s youth teams, featuring for the U-17 and U-19 sides before moving into the club’s U-21 environment. That development has put him on the radar of Canada’s senior coaching staff, even before he has established himself in senior club football.

Khan is not a new name for Canadian supporters. He has represented the country at U-15 and U-17 levels, recording four appearances and one goal with the U-15s, followed by 13 appearances and six goals for the U-17 national team.

His experience with the youth sides includes Canada’s participation in the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup. He was also part of the group that helped build the foundation for the next generation of Canadian internationals, with the country now looking toward the 2027 U-20 World Cup.

The senior call-up is another indication of Marsch’s interest in connecting Canada’s youth development pathway with the first team. The coach has already given opportunities to young players in recent windows, and Khan now joins that group as he takes his first step into the senior environment.

For Khan, the immediate challenge will be adapting to the demands of international football at the highest level. Whether he makes his senior debut against Guatemala remains to be seen, but the invitation itself marks a major moment in his development and gives Canada another young midfielder to monitor as it builds toward the next World Cup cycle.
