Folarin Balogun is on the verge of a return to the Premier League.

Everton have reached an agreement with AS Monaco to sign the United States international, giving the 25-year-old forward an opportunity to return to English football and begin a new chapter at Goodison Park.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the agreement includes a €45 million fixed fee, €5 million in potential add-ons and a sell-on clause for Monaco. The clubs have reached an agreement on the transfer, with the remaining work centered around finalizing personal terms between Balogun and Everton.

Balogun’s return to England carries an added layer because the country is where his footballing development began.

Born in New York and raised in England, Balogun joined Arsenal’s academy at eight years old and progressed through the club’s youth system before making his professional debut. He later gained senior experience in England with Arsenal and on loan at Middlesbrough before establishing himself in France.

His move to Monaco in 2023 represented the beginning of a new stage in his career.

Since arriving in Ligue 1, Balogun has become an established U.S. international and a significant attacking presence for Monaco. Across his three seasons with the club, he has recorded 31 goals and nine assists in 91 appearances, according to Reuters.

Now, he is heading back to the league where his professional journey began.

Balogun’s time in France has produced both strong moments and difficult stretches.

The forward’s best season with Monaco came in 2025-26, when he enjoyed his most productive campaign with the club and continued to establish himself as an important player for the U.S. national team.

That form also carried into the 2026 World Cup.

Balogun finished as the USMNT’s leading scorer at the tournament, scoring three goals as the United States reached the knockout stage. He remained an important part of Mauricio Pochettino’s attack throughout the competition.

His club situation, however, has been less settled.

A move to Everton now gives him an opportunity to change that narrative.

Rather than continuing to search for consistency in France, Balogun will return to a league he knows well and join an Everton side looking for a new focal point in attack.

He arrives as a proven U.S. international, a World Cup scorer and a forward with significant European experience.

Now Everton will hope he can translate all of that into goals at Goodison Park.

For Folarin Balogun, the Premier League comeback is almost here — and with it comes an opportunity to write a very different next chapter.
